The annual convention of the AHS - National Federation of Atheist, Humanist and Secular Student Societies – will be held in London on the weekend of 1 – 3 March 2013, and it’s going to be awesome!

Our incredible speakers this year include:
  • physicist, author and broadcaster Professor Jim Al-Khalili, who has just been appointed President of the British Humanist Association
  • Guardian journalist Polly Toynbee, well known for her support for secularism and humanism
  • Robin Ince, atheist comedian and organiser of 9 Lessons and Carols for Godless People
  • Natalie Haynes, teacher turned comedian, author and guest contributor for the Independent
  • Andrew Copson, chief executive of the British Humanist Association
  • Keith Porteous Wood, the Executive Director of the National Secular Society
We also have a performance by the BHA Choir, who have delighted us in previous years with their alternately touching and amusing non-religious songs.

There will be an End of Convention Party at the Enterprise pub after the speakers day, when you’ll get plenty of opportunity to socialise with your fellow heathens.

We will be meeting on Friday from 7.30pm onwards for Welcome Drinks at the Knights Templar pub on Chancery Lane. This is a great chance to meet new people and get into the secular swing of things!

On Saturday, you will have the opportunity to listen to lots of interesting speakers on a variety of atheism, humanism and secularism related topics, not to mention meet loads of awesome new people. We will also have stalls run by a range of non-religious organisations which might be of interest to our members, which you can visit in breaks between speakers.

Sunday will be a day of workshops and discussions aimed at current and prospective committees, kindly hosted by UCL. Workshops are a mixture of fun and usefulness, plus we will be giving out a number of awesome awards to societies – make sure to be there to pick yours up!
