The British Humanist Association (BHA) has joined the growing number of concerned organisations and individuals opposed to the Government’s Legislative and Regulatory Reform Bill. (For details of an organisation campaigning specifically on this Bill click here )

The Bill will allow Ministers a free hand to make and change the law with minimal Parliamentary scrutiny.
Although the Government have given assurances that they will not misuse the powers they are taking under the Bill, they have refused to put safeguards into the Bill, including those proposed by the present Regulatory Reform Committee. The criteria for using the procedure (e.g., not removing any ‘necessary protection’ or removing ‘rights or freedoms’ anyone might reasonably expect to be maintained) will remain
