Take Action! Easy ways you can help with our campaigns

2 January, 2012

Much of what we do at the British Humanist Association (BHA) is to campaign to create positive change, to play our part in creating a secular state and a more equal society. We have a small but dedicated team who work on issues from campaigning for inclusive schools without religious discrimination, to protecting the right to free speech, to ensuring that non-religious people are treated equally in law and policy. However, to be a strong and effective voice we need support from our members and supporters. There are all sorts of ways you can get involved with our campaigns, such as writing to your MP on a particular issue, signing an online petition, and helping us to gather evidence by making requests to your local authority under the Freedom of Information Act. In fact, there are ways you can help us on all our campaigns. Take a look below at some of the easy ways you can help and get your voice heard on the issues that you care about. Thank you!

  • Take Action! By writing to your MP today and urging him/her to oppose government proposals to keep reserved places for Church of England bishops in the House of Lords
  • Take Action! By letting us know what public-services are being contracted out to religious organisations in your local area
  • Take Action! By finding out if schools in your area have received visits from anti-choice groups
  • Take Action! By signing our petitions against collective worship and the teaching of creationism in schools, and helping us to have these issues debated in parliament
  • Take Action! By contacting your local MP and asking him/her to affirm their support for equal marriage for humanists

You can view a full list of our Take Action campaigns here, with information on how to get involved.
