Humanists UK and Northern Ireland Humanists are delighted to announce the appointment of their newest patron, Kristian Nairn. Nairn is a successful actor and DJ who joins a stable of over 170 Humanists UK patrons with distinguished careers in arts, literature, science, academia, politics, and community and civic activism.
Kristian Nairn is probably best known for his role as Hodor in the internationally acclaimed TV series, Game of Thrones.
In addition to his status as one of Ireland’s most prolific resident house DJs for the last 20 years, Nairn has also played at venues all over the world – including international superclubs, Amnesia, Cafe Mambo, and Hakkasan – and has played at some of the biggest dance festivals, Tomorrowland, Untold Festival, and Sunburn Festival.
Nairn is an advocate for LGBT rights and is looking to support the work of Northern Ireland Humanists and Humanists UK around its ongoing campaigns on issues such as banning ‘gay conversion therapy’.
Humanists UK Chief Executive Andrew Copson commented: ‘We’re delighted to welcome Kristian as the latest patron of Humanists UK. Known across the world for his music and acting talent, he will be a great ambassador for promoting the values of humanism in Northern Ireland and across the UK.’
Other patrons of Northern Ireland Humanists include comedian Tim McGarry, model and activist Laura Lacole, Leeds United midfielder Eunan O’Kane, musician Hannah Peel, and astrophysicist Professor Stephen Smartt.
