The series is inspired by the twentieth century What I Believe essays of Humanists UK patrons Bertrand Russell and E M Forster.

Humanists UK Chief Executive Andrew Copson said:

‘We’ve been overwhelmed by the feedback and support we’ve received for the podcast. It’s been truly fascinating to listen to the guests’ multiple perspectives on making sense of the world and I’m so pleased that What I Believe has encouraged listeners to think critically about their own beliefs too. I’m looking forward to season three already!’

What I Believe is inspired by the work of two humanist greats, philosopher Bertrand Russell and the novelist E M Forster. ‘What I Believe’ was the title of two separate essays by Russell and Forster in the early twentieth century which set out their approach to life – their fundamental worldview – in a way that was accessible to all.
