11 June, 2021

Humanists UK has welcomed two new patrons: the co-founder of WordPress, Mike Little and the award-winning journalist Felicity Hannah.

Mike Little

Mike Little is the co-founder of the widely used website building tool, WordPress. As an open source project, WordPress has since been developed by a huge worldwide community and today powers more than 40% of the web. As well as his WordPress specialist company, zed1.com, Little runs the award-winning I’m a Scientist Get me Out of Here, an online, student-led resource connecting school pupils considering a career in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics with scientists through real-time, web-based chats. He has worked on a number of UK government WordPress sites, including that of No 10 Downing Street, which explains the work of the Prime Minister and Cabinet Office, from 2008-2010.

Felicity Hannah

Felicity Hannah is a freelance print and broadcast journalist specialising in consumer affairs and personal finance. She regularly presents BBC Radio 5 Live’s Wake Up To Money and R4’s Money Box Live, as well as appearing as a commentator across TV and radio. Felicity regularly writes for The Times, Independent, Mirror and many other publications. In 2020 she was named Broadcast Journalist of the Year at the Headlinemoney Awards.

Humanists UK Chief Executive Andrew Copson commented:

‘It’s a pleasure to have two new patrons onboard: Mike, whose passion for open source and accessibility means that WordPress now powers a colossal 40% of the web, and Felicity, whose contributions to journalism, including on many issues of interest to humanists, have earned her national recognition. We all look forward to working with them!’
