Mike Little

Co-founder of WordPress and Patron of Humanists UK

Mike Little is the co-founder of WordPress, the website builder and content management system that powers more than 40% of the web. He started it in 2003 with Matt Mullenweg and has developed with and used WordPress ever since. As an open source project, WordPress is now developed by a huge worldwide community.

Little is a community engineer and WordPress specialist. He also runs zed1.com, his WordPress specialist company providing web development, training, and consultancy services.

He has been developing software since the 1980s and is passionate about open source, standards, and accessibility.

Little developed and continues to enhance the award-winning I’m a Scientist Get me Out of Here site for his client Gallomanor. He has worked on a number of UK government WordPress sites, most notably he enhanced and supported the No 10 Downing Street site for the Cabinet Office from 2008-2010. He developed a Law Commission consultation site and a custom WordPress site for the UK Department of Work and Pensions.

His background is in software development (and the techie end of the music business) and he has more than 30 years under his belt, many at the most senior levels. He is a published author and technical editor.

Little realised in his early teens that he couldn’t square the concepts of religion and a loving god with the realities of the world. He has always had a belief in the in-built goodness of humanity but didn’t have a name for what he believed. These days he is proud to call himself a humanist.
