Humanist priorities for 2021 | Young Humanists online discussion

January 28th, 2021 7:30 PM   --   8:30 PM

2020 was a difficult year, with the pandemic upending the lives of many; national and international political upheaval; and humanist campaigning on legal recognition for humanist marriage, defending human rights, and more. 2021 is the 125th anniversary of the organisation now known as Humanists UK and offers a chance for humanists to reflect on our history and look forward to the challenges that still lie ahead.

Join Young Humanists as we ask what we can learn from 2020 and what humanists’ priorities should be in the UK in 2021. Richy Thompson, Director of Public Affairs and Policy at Humanists UK, will set out his thoughts on the road ahead, and then it’s over to you.

How can humanists contribute to public understanding around vaccination and Covid-19 mitigation measures? What can we do to build communities, reaching out to those we disagree with, in politically febrile times? What goals should we set ourselves as a movement in this anniversary year? These are just some of the questions that, with your help, we will address in this open and inclusive discussion.
