In prisons

If you are a humanist in prison you have the legal right to a humanist pastoral support visitor in the same way that a religious prisoner has the legal right to see a chaplain of their religion.

We have a limited number of men and women trained as humanist pastoral support volunteers and we are in the process of training more. If you know of a humanist in prison who wants this support, please do get in touch by email at or ask the prisoner to contact us by post to ‘British Humanist Association, 39 Moreland Street, London EC1V 8BB’ and we will try to help.
