This year is the 40th anniversary of LGBT Humanists. |
|
We are the community section for humanists who are LGBT, and we were originally founded as a separate organisation in 1979 in response to the Gay News blasphemy trial instigated by Mary Whitehouse. We are a force for humanist values as well as LGBT rights, and have played a major role in shaping contemporary society’s more tolerant attitude to LGBT people. We have been instrumental in helping bring about important changes like civil partnerships and later same-sex marriage.
This special 40th anniversary lunch will raise funds for our LGBT community work and rights activism, including same-sex marriage in Northern Ireland and a ban on gay conversion therapy.
We will be joined by special guest speakers as well as special table hosts on the day.
