In conversation with Louise Antony

Louise Antony is an American philosopher who is currently professor of philosophy at the University of Massachusetts. She specialises in philosophy of mind, metaphysics, cognitive science, feminist theory, and philosophy of religion.

Her 2007 book, Philosophers without Gods, challenged the notion that morality is dependent on the existence of god. It collects the essays of nineteen leading philosophers ‘opening a window on the inner life of atheism, shattering… common stereotypes as they reveal how they came to turn away from religious belief.’ In 2008, she debated Christian apologist and creationist William Lane Craig on whether a god is necessary for morality.
