Northern Ireland Humanists launch

May 10th, 2017 19:30   --   21:30

We have been working hard over the last year to help make Northern Ireland a more secular country and try to stop the stranglehold of religious privilege.

We have trained pastoral carers and school speakers. We have trained celebrants, and more are being trained in May and June. We have campaigned tirelessly on a number of issues close to humanists' hearts including women's reproductive health, the RE curriculum, integrated education, and the right for pupils to choose if they take part in daily collective acts of worship.

Now we're glad to now be able to invite you to our formal launch event at Belfast Castle. We will go into more detail about all the things that have happened since we came into existence in January 2016, and what we have planned for the coming years.

The event will be compèred by comedian and patron Tim McGarry, and we will have speakers including British Humanist Association Chief Executive Andrew Copson, Director of Community Services Teddy Prout, Emma Campbell of Alliance for Choice, Northern Ireland Humanists patron Professor Stephen Smartt, and a very special guest.

Get your tickets fast. They are free and space is limited.
