In this talk Dominic Janes, Professor of Modern History at Keele university, will look at LGBT history in Britain and Europe. He will explore such themes as classical and Christian approaches to sex and sin, and the rise of 'sexology' in the nineteenth century.

This will open up a debate with the audience about whether there is, or there should be, a distinctively humanist approach to LGBT history and heritage.

Dominic Janes is the author of several books in queer history including Picturing the Closet (2015) and Oscar Wilde Prefigured (2016).
