Members meeting with John Barry
Join Northern Ireland Humanists for the third Members meeting!
This will be an opportunity for us to meet and listen to our members in Northern Ireland, update you on some of the important work we have been doing, and discuss opportunities to get involved with our work for a tolerant, rational, and kind society.
John Barry, Professor at Queen's University and former Green Party councillor, will be discussing animal welfare and environmentalism – and how they relate to humanism.
Dave Powell, a fellow humanist and longtime supporter, will be telling us about his experience with ethical veganism.
In just over three years, Northern Ireland Humanists has grown to become one of the largest groups in Northern Ireland engaged in human rights issues. We've taken on some of the key issues relevant to our society – like same-sex marriage, collective worship in schools, abortion rights, and the rights of the non-religious – through MLAs, MPs, and even going as far as the Supreme Court. We are a growing movement at the forefront of social change.
To be even more successful, and to create lasting change in Northern Ireland, we need to continue to grow. Your ideas, enthusiasm, and drive are key to that.
So please, come along for an evening of discussion as we get on with the business of making people in Northern Ireland happier, more fulfilled, and more confident in the one life we have.
This is a free event but please get a ticket as space is limited.
